The A & P Carnival
The Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company has created an area at the World's Fair for pleasure, without admission charge.  There is a big open air marine park, with an amphitheater seating several thousand, surrounding a revolving stage where daily programs are given.  Tony Sarg's famous marionettes, Harry Horlick and his Gypsy orhestra and Gypsy dancing, are features.  With George Rector presiding as master of ceremonies it is a real carnival.

*SUNDAY STAMPS*

I am without Christmas Postage Stamps.
But would still like to participate in Sunday Stamps.
I mentioned before I don't collect stamps.
But I have taken a liking to the nostalgic Christmas Seals.
They take me back to childhood.
I hope you will enjoy taking a look at a couple.
These two are from 1941 & 1945.

SEVENTY YEARS OF PROGRESS
IN THE RAILWAY POST OFFICE
In a little car like this, on July 28, 1862, enroute from West Quincy to St. Joseph, Missouri, over what is now a part of the Burlington main line from Chicago to Kansas City and St. Joseph, United States Mail was first sorted while in transit.  The purpose was to speed the departure of the overland stage coach from St. Joseph to California.

At the right is the modern standard Railway Post Office, In several of which the California and other western mail is now sorted nightly on the Burlington  fast mail trains between Chicago and Omaha.

~ FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY ~

Merry
Christmas
Two Little words of warm regard
Happy through and through
To ride upon this Christmas card
Across the miles to you
From Florida
Information from article by Grandson of  E. G. Barnhill, Clayton M. Barnhill:
E. G. Barnhill specialized in publishing post cards, greeting cards and pictorial photography of Florida from 1914-1932.  The printing of his early cards was done in Germany.  He published, photographed, and hand colored his cards himself.  Most of his cards were printed by the Albertype Company of New York.  Mr. Barnhill acquired skills of the photographic trade from his father and was an apprentice to a prominent photographer in Palm Beach, Florida, in his early years.  He met Edward S. Curtis when he was still in his late teens.  While working with Curtis, he learned the "goldtoning" photo process using uranium dyes.  He experimented with this process from 1914 until the mid 1920s.  He established his own business in St. Petersburg, Florida, which he operated for many years.  Mr Barnhill passed away in 1987 at the age of 93.

STAMPATO IN ITALIA

Here are some
beautiful Italian Post Cards from a series.
From the look of the cards front and back,
I think they are probably from the early 1900's

Unfortunately I am unable to make out the signature of the artist.

I think the subject must be the Italian Alps.

Looks like "The Hills are alive with the Sound of Music".
Could be the Appian Way I guess.

Hall of Science, Chicago World's Fair.
1933
As seen from the main lagoon.  Notice the carillon equipped tower, the rostrum at the right, the decorated cloth banner which serves as a background for the speaker, the three levels on which structure is build and the entrance to the medical exhibit at the lower level.  The Hall of Science is 700 by 400 feet.  At night it is brilliantly illuminated by indirect and fluctuating colored flood lights.  This structure is located at Sixteenth St. and the lake, with part of the building extending directly across Leif Erikson Drive--Chicago's famous waterfront boulevard.
