La Junta on Highway U.S. 50 lies in the heart of the fertile Arkansas Valley at the junction of the famous Arkansas Trail where one branch leads to Trinidad and South and one goes on to Pueblo. This country is the home of the cantaloupe and other melons. It is a great modern little city with the army air field located close by.
