The Heart of
The Playground
of America
The ever changing panorama of rich and accurately colored landscape, with all the harmonizing and complimentary colors from the master palette of the Great Creator, it is no exaggeration to say that there is more variation in color and formation in this area than any other place of its size in the world.  Hunting, fishing, pack trips, hiking and picnicking, await you here,  properly flavored with true western hospitality.

Taken from an original oil painting by the noted
cowboy artist and poet, L. H. "Dude" Larsen.

I am lucky enough to have seen many of these places over the years.  I must say they are magnificent.  One gets a true definition and feeling of what the Native Americans call spiritual lands.  There is certainly the spirit of Creation present.

Sepia Saturday

With thousands of Post Cards in my collection I have lots
of cards showing statues and monuments.  I came by this
interesting card recently and thought it would be perfect
for our Sepia Saturday theme this week.

WOOLDRIDGE MONUMENTS
A Weird procession that doesn't move.
Erected 1894 in Maplewood Cemetery
Mayfield, Kentucky

Col. Henry Wooldridge, who died in 1899,
was the person responsible for the famous
monuments.  All were carved and placed on
the grounds before Mr. Wooldridge's death.
It has been said that the monuments cost
approximately $6,000. Col. Wooldridge is the
only person buried in the lot.  His body is in
the stone vault in front of the statue.  The
slab on top of the vault has a double-barreled
shotgun carved on it.
