The Iron Man

Birmingham, Alabama

Vulcan, iron man, built in 1904 by the Chamber of Commerce for the St. Louis Exposition.  It is the second largest statue in America.  It weighs 120,000 pounds and is 50 ft. tall.  One thumb weighs 170 lbs.  Placed on the top of Red Mountain by the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham.  The base is of white Alabama marble.  Height of pedestal, 120 ft..

The Alamo by night, San Antonio, Texas

 The sacred Alamo stands within the very heart of the business district of the city of San Antonio.  It was erected in 1718 by the Franciscan Monks and was originally the Chapel of the Mission of San Antonio de Valera.  It was within the gray stone walls of the quaint old Chapel, March 6, 1836, that Travis, Barrett, Bowie, Crockett and 182 unsung heroes gave their lives in defense of Texas liberty.

Osceola

Chief of the Seminoles confined in court room.

Fort Marion, St. Augustine, Fla.

Osceola was the leading chief of the Seminoles during their war with the United States Government.  He Was a striking example of Indian statesman and patriot.  He was captured near St. Augustine Oct. 21, 1837 and confined in the Court Room at Fort Marion until Jan. 1,1838 when he was sent to ort Moultrie, Sullivan's Island, Charlestown harbor where he died Jan. 30 1838 and where a monument now marks his resting place.
