Dutch Dancers, Holland, Michigan

We have sure had a nice trip up here
to see the tulip festival. Four of us came up Thursday.
I bet you thought you would never hear from me again.
My time isn't up yet, for my painting isn't started.

Lovely postcards. I do like clogs.
ReplyDeleteSuch a short message but does it have hidden meanings; my time isn't up yet? Lovely image though.
ReplyDeleteI didn't quite understand what the message was all about myself. Someone must have understood. Even the bit about never hear from me again.
DeleteHolland Mich. really goes all out for their Dutch heritage, doesn't it? I don't think you see that anywhere else (with the Dutch, I mean)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card to highlight folk dress and dance. But the message is really interesting and sparks the imagination.
ReplyDeleteI went to a postcard show yesterday, and one of the cards I bought was some dancers in the 1934 Century of Progress Holland Village. Actually, my first idea this week was to use some of my Century of Progress folk dancing postcards.
ReplyDeleteVery appropriate postcard. I'd never heard of Holland, Michigan before. Now I want to visit!
ReplyDeleteI'm always fascinated by the messages people write on the backs of postcards you find in antique & other such shops. As some have said, wondering what some of them mean can be rather intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThey look like they're having fun. The old linen postcards must be a bit of a challenge to scan what with their textured surfaces. You've done a fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteLovely Colours! But (hey I'm no expert...) It Must Have Been Hard To Do High-Kicks In Such Heavy Long Frocks?
ReplyDeleteThe smiles on the Dutch Dancers are very genuine aren't they. They're having fun.
ReplyDeleteGod forbid they'd do high kicks unless one of these clogs flied off and hit someone...
DeleteDutch heritage used to be very popular imagery, but today it is rare to see. An odd message too.
ReplyDeleteThey all seemed quite cheerful and that's all that matters really.
