Welcome to my collection of Linen Post Cards. When I was a child in the 50s my eccentric aunt Hannah sent Linen Post Cards to our house from her adventures. The simple watercolor effect they have gave me many hours of daydreams from her travels. I hope I can share a few with you. Yes cards and daydreams.
I knew something looked a little strange. I wonder if somehow the picture was transposed? I like seeing how the first flag looked, despite the odd placement.
I think I may have figured it out. If the card is viewed vertical. It is hanging correct I think. The text was probably put on the wrong border of the card.
I saw a special on the tely last night about this flag. In actuality, the original is displayed flat and flows in the opposite direction of what shows on this postcard. LuveLinens says, the postcard was likely meant to be viewed vertical! lol The text is what makes it look a tad odd...I have a feeling someone made a booboo. (grin)
I wonder why it is displayed "backwards."
ReplyDeleteWhy the backwards display was also my first thought.
ReplyDeleteIt looks less busy than the later versions, for sure.

ReplyDeleteIt makes a fine postcard, whichever way around it is.
