Front View of "Mormon" Temple,
Salt Lake City, Utah
No object in Salt Lake City excites greater interest in the minds of strangers than the "Mormon" Temple. The East Center Tower is 210 ft. high surmounted b a hammered copper statue 12 1/2 feet high, heavily gilded with pure gold leaf. This statue represents the Angel Moroni Blowing a trumpet, proclaiming the restoration of the Gospel. The inscription reads as follows:"Holiness to the Lord! The House of the Lord, built by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Commenced April 6, 1853; completed April 6, 1893
